Biography
Dr Chris Rumley is committed to providing the highest standard of patient-centred care and utilises the latest advancements in radiation oncology to achieve the best possible outcomes. He values clear communication, shared decision-making, and a multidisciplinary approach to achieving the best outcomes for his patients.
Dr Chris Rumley is an experienced radiation oncologist at Icon Cancer Centre Mackay. Dr Rumley completed his medical degree (MBChB) at the University of Glasgow in 1999. After undertaking postgraduate medical training, he earned Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 2005. Following this, he pursued further specialist training in oncology in both the United Kingdom and New Zealand before becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR) in 2016, specialising in Radiation Oncology.
An active contributor to academic and clinical research, he has held leadership roles in national and international clinical trials, presented at international conferences, and co-authored peer-reviewed publications in advanced imaging and radiotherapy. Dr Rumley played a key role in the establishment of Australia’s first MR-Linac service and served as MR-Linac lead and Director of Training in Townsville. In addition to his clinical work, he is a Conjoint Lecturer at James Cook University and an Adjunct Lecturer at Monash University, supporting the next generation of medical professionals through teaching and mentorship.
With more than 20-years of medical experience across three countries, Dr Rumley accepts referrals for all cancer types and has a special clinical interest in genitourinary, upper and lower gastrointestinal, lung and skin cancers and stereotactic radiation therapy.
